Apple (finally) unveiled its highly-anticipated iPhone 7, which is the first new design from the tech giant since the iPhone 6 came out in 2014. Over the last year or so there has been a lot of buzz surrounding the iPhone 7, in particular, with many expecting Apple to go all out. It’s safe to say they didn’t disappoint. While the design of the new phone is not so different from the previous model, it does have a new color option and numerous fantastic specifications to show off. Another smartphone that has been surrounded by a lot of buzz as of late – and arguably giving Apple a run for its money – is the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. In recent years Samsung has worked hard to perfect its model and steal, for lack of a better word, customers away from Apple. With the new Galaxy 7 series, they have a better chance of doing that than ever before. Not only is the display screen 7% larger than the iPhone 7, but it charges faster, has a great camera, and boost impeccable resolution.
Today’s society is all about gadgets and having the best of the best, whether it is a laptop, iPhone, or smartwatch (more on that later). Both the iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy 7 are extremely viable options, making it tough for consumers to know which is best for their needs. As we continue to move towards becoming a more mobile society, having a smartphone that can support everything from checking the various social media platforms to shopping, navigating, and even conducting business is more important than ever before. With this in mind, let’s take a closer look at the iPhone 7 vs the Galaxy 7.
Pros and Cons of iPhone 7 vs Galaxy 7
Perhaps the biggest change Apple made with its iPhone 7 is getting rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack in place of the lightning based earpods. This decision was made in order to accommodate a larger battery and better camera technology, both of which are important to users. Both the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy 7 are now water-resistant, to an extent, with the Samsung phone faring better in this department. Apple has also unveiled several new colors, including two different jet black options – matte and gloss. Along the same lines, Apple’s iPhone 6 was surprisingly rugged and scratch-resistant, which we expect from the iPhone 7 as well. One of the major complaints with the Galaxy 7 is that it seems to get dinged up pretty quickly, despite featuring Gorilla Glass 5. The bottomline? It’s really all about your personal preference and which company you choose to support. Both the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy 7 have advanced specifications that are designed to make both the life of the everyday user and tech-savvy critic easier. Where the iPhone 7 excels in some areas, the Galaxy 7 succeeds in others. It comes down to whether you are an Apple or a Samsung man (or woman) and which operating system you prefer.
Before we go, it is worth mentioning that both Apple and Samsung have also revealed new smartwatches – the Apple Watch Series 2 and the Samsung Gear S3, respectively. According to many tech industry experts, Samsung’s new smartwatch is one of the best to ever hit the market, and really the only smartwatch giving Apple a run for its money. Perhaps the most significant difference between the two is that Samsung’s smartwatch allows you to make phone calls directly from the watch, whereas Apple’s does not have this capability. The Gear 3 is also larger (which translates to somewhat bulkier) than any version of the Apple Watch, so it will depend on your preference here. Samsung is advertising the Gear 3 as an outdoor watch, with a military grade rating protecting it in both high and low temperatures. However, unlike the Apple Watch Series 2, it is not suitable for swimming or diving (Apple’s smartwatch is water resistant up to 164 feet). As with the smartphone, deciding which is best for you will all depend on your preferences and which brand you have a loyalty to.
